Here is this week’s tip. When you remove your sample that is to be centrifuged from your ice bucket, gently wipe the tubes with a Kim-wipe to remove the moisture. By removing the moisture this will prevent the tube from collapsing due to the beads of moisture on the tube. One drop of moisture is exposed to the same g-force as your sample and just a small bead of water can put enough pressure on the tube wall to collapse it. This is also for safety reasons as well to prevent rotor imbalance.
